Meet your Student Support Services Director

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” What an insightful quote from Aristotle, a great philosopher and scientist! It reminds us that our socio-emotional development is just as important as our intellectual growth. I whole-heartedly believe this.

My name is Eddie Errisuriz. I’m also known as Mr. E.  I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. I am the oldest of four siblings from parents who had to stop going to school when they were 12 and 13 to support their family. They had nothing to leave us except for the one thing they knew no one could take away from us…an education! They knew a good education would give us the opportunity to have a better life!

A product of catholic schools, I graduated from St. Joseph Academy. I became the first high school graduate on both sides of the family. After graduating at 17 years of age, I attended Texas Southmost College and Pan American University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Mathematics with Texas teaching certification. I began teaching Middle School Mathematics and High School Biology as a 21-year-old. While teaching, I attended Pan American University, currently the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in the evening, which culminated in a master’s degree in education with Texas Counseling certification. I have completed all my coursework for a master’s in business administration and a Doctoral degree in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University.

I have over 40 years of experience in education, in the public and private sectors. I have worked with students from elementary school through college in diverse roles including instruction, curriculum development, executive function, administration, and counseling. I spent years helping elementary, middle school, and high school students be the best they can be as a teacher, mentor, and in diverse counseling and administrative roles. I have had the honor of teaching undergraduate education courses and graduate courses in counseling and technology for the University of Texas at Brownsville, as well as for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.   Subsequently, I earned my Texas Principal’s certification.

Over the years, additional studies allowed me to work as a campus administrator, school district level administrator as a Director of Counseling and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Administrative Services in various Texas School Districts.  As the former owner and CEO of A&E Educational Enterprises, I operated a state of Texas approved teacher certification program and  certified thousands of our program participants over the course of 18 years.

When I’m not working, I enjoy being outdoors.  I enjoy RV camping at State and National Parks. I enjoy spending time on the beach at South Padre Island with family and friends. I enjoy watching all types of sports and still enjoy a round of golf. I am currently the Director of Student Support Services for the San Benito CISD, the best district and family I have ever worked for!  A district that, along with a community that welcomed me warmly ten years ago!  Please let me know how I may assist you.  I am at your service!
