Every year on 21 March – World Down Syndrome Day, the global Down syndrome community participates in activities and events to raise public awareness and creates a single voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with Down syndrome. Beginning in 2007, the 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
